The formation of End Citizens United in 2015 has sparked a lot of controversies in the political system. Political organizations are looking for different ways to curb the political effects brought about by the formation of End Citizens United. At the same time, they are looking for legal ways to overturn the activities of the political committee.
A conservative group called Citizens United was formed in 2008 and it led to the stemming up of a case. The group tried to air out a film that aimed at attacking Hillary Clinton at the time of Democratic presidential primaries. The film was scheduled to be an hour long. After investigations, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) found out that it was actually a campaign advertisement that was meant to be 90 minutes long.
However, Citizens United was reluctant to disclose the cost of airing the film and who had funded the film.
They defied the federal law that required the sources of funding for political ads to be identified. Citizens United sued FEC and they wanted the ruling to be overturned. Unfortunately, the Federal Court ruled against Citizens United and they upheld the decision of Federal Election Commission. Later, the Supreme Court overturned the decision of the federal court.
